Snow Cometh

As ludicrous as it seems, I am looking forward to the first snowfall. It makes everything look so clean and lovely. It's more than just the beauty though that I'm anticipating. I can't wait for the lines of the parking lots to be covered so you can drive and park however you want! It's a sense of freedom I've never experienced. Disconcerting at first, but once you give into it, boy it feels good!

Oh sure, you make an attempt to retain some semblance of order, but really, people park wherever the heck they want. And if you're me, you drive wherever the heck you want as well.

It wasn't until returning to Fairbanks this summer that I realized all last winter I had been entering the Sam's Club parking lot via the curb. Not, the actual car entrance.

Yes, that's right. I was driving over what is clearly a curb. Imagine it though, covered in snow and tread marks going every which way. It could easily be mistaken for a driveway. Easily.

Discerning a curb, from a sidewalk, from the street is near impossible when covered with snow. It all looks the same. And really, does it matter how I enter the parking lot? I think not.
